Paul has been married to his wife Debbie for twenty-two years, and the two of them have two children, Joshua who attends Michigan Technological University and Danielle who attends Central Michigan University. Paul began his ministry as a teen at Holy Rosary in Flint, as a catechist and working on youth retreats. As a young adult in college, he was also involved in a ministry to young adults called Choice Weekends for Single Adults. In 1982, he began his first full time ministry at Saint Pius X in Flint, as Youth Minister and Coordinator of Religious Education for Middle School and High School. In 1987, Paul began his ministry to the youth and families of Holy Rosary in Flint, as Director of Religious Education and Youth Minister. While at Holy Rosary, Paul began to see the importance of sacramental moments and the need for teens to experience faith in the community and the world. He began to send students to World Youth Day in Europe, work at area work camps for the poor, and to involve students in parish life. In 1997 Paul was at Blessed Sacrament in Burton as Director of Religious Education and Youth Minister, coming to Saint John in August of 2002.

Paul bases his ministry to youth on the foundation of relationships. Through relationships he believes youth will begin to trust others and God. He believes that in order for youth to be honest with others and themselves they need to see all of God s creation as good, beginning with themselves. Through youth ministry events such as meetings, retreats, socials, outreach, community service, Diocese of Lansing Jamboree, National Catholic Youth Conference, World Youth Day, and active participation in Parish Life, teens begin to see themselves as more than an individual. They see themselves as part of something larger, a member of God s family with much to give.
